The Mattoon Middle School Band competed in the Jasper County Fall Festival of Bands Parade Competition on Saturday, September 14. The band performed "YMCA" by The Village People during the half-mile parade.
MMS has sixty-one marching band members, led by Director, Sydney Zumbahlen, and ten color guard members under the direction of Kallee Steinkamp. The band's drum majors are 8th-grader Camaron Wells and 7th-grader Aviana Hutchison.
MMS won the Junior High Most Outstanding Percussion award and placed 3rd overall in the Junior High category. Mattoon Middle School is extremely proud of our staff and students for their hard work and accomplishments.
The MMS band's next parade performance will be at the Greenup Fall Festival on October 12.
