Mattoon CUSD2 is aware of another national school threat circulating on social media. The Mattoon Police Department is aware that the message is being circulated across multiple social media outlets, and has determined that the threats are unfounded and there is NO local threat to the Mattoon school community at this time.
As always, any threats that are made against our schools carry serious legal and disciplinary consequences. As a district, we handle all incidents in collaboration with the Mattoon Police Department. We strongly encourage anyone who sees or hears anything that could pose a potential school safety issue to immediately notify a teacher, staff member, administrator, or local law enforcement. If any threats are received specific to our school district, we will provide information to our families as soon as possible.
